I just completed doctoral comps at Liberty University. This book was one of the texts used in this program. I transferred into Liberty with a conferred Ed.S, so I had not taken this course at Liberty. When I found out this text was used in one of the courses for which you had to write a Comps response, I purchased the book. Even with the text, I had to search out other resources to answer the question appropriately. This book is okay, but did not meet my need.

Great explanations of theories; great that the text includes learning objectives in the beginning and reflective activities at the end of each chapter.

I would have to say that most text books are written as though the teacher from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is reading them, boring and mundane, but this book is written as though someone is talking to you. He goes off with some relevant side tangents to help you better understand the concepts. I appreciated this book for the topics covered and the manner in which they were addressed.
